Aging in isolation
Losing a partner or becoming isolated from family can speed up the aging process. The unfortunate reality is that the majority of aging adults in the US are aging in isolation. Diseases like Alzheimer’s, increased frequency of falls and depression are heightened in these populations.
Dying alone
Many Americans have to face the reality of dying alone everyday in the US. Some have no remaining families, others are too far to reach in time. Palliative care staff typically don’t have the time and resources to provide the undivided companionship required.
Early disease detection
Diagnosing disease early is the key to improving survival. Not all diseases have cures or even treatment options, but detection techniques can provide us with better insights than ever before.
Hearing loss
Could subtitle glasses be the next big thing for rescuing communication in the deft? Hearing aids work, but not for everyone.
Organ transplantation
Some patients sit on donor lists for years, others never get the call. Innovative new approaches are working to create synthetic organs for transplantation, but this technology is still long from accessible calling for approaches to increase organ donor turnout.
Surgical waste
Sterility is vital during surgeries, but it comes with a cost. Most tools and equipment are rarely used but need to be accessible in case they are needed in an emergency. Re-sterilization and waste starts to compound, questioning if it is patient safety at all costs or if there is a middle ground?

Our Story
Founders, Nick and Chris Minteer have trained at some of the top Universities in the world and started one of the fastest growing companies in the United States, generating over $10M with no investors, all while they were still in school. They took an idea that started in their parents garage to a global powerhouse. The Minteer Academy is based on the principals the Minteer brothers learned working together and with their team. Nick, the business mind, trained at University College London, and Chris, the product mind, a PhD Scientist, trained at University of Cambridge and Yale University. The Academy takes the same perspectives which made Nick and Chris so effective as co-founders and applies it in a real-world course, where ambitious teens have the opportunity to take on big problems through either an entrepreneurial or research lens.
